National Safety Award Finalists
Four entrants from within the Comcare scheme were announced as finalists in the 2008 Safe Work Australia Awards. These national awards recognise excellence in workplace safety.
Categories and finalists from the Comcare scheme are:
Category 1: Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System
- National Australia Bank Limited
Category 2: Best Solution to an Identified Workplace Health and Safety Issue
- John Holland Rail Pty Ltd
Category 4: Public Sector Leadership Award for Injury Prevention and Management
- Centrelink – Call Network
Category 5: Best Individual Contribution to Workplace Health and Safety
- Jerome Gubbels, John Holland Group
Chairman, Mr Les Taylor, said the high standard of the finalists will ensure the Comcare scheme is well represented at the national awards.
“These finalists demonstrate the dedication and commitment shown by organisations within the Comcare scheme to developing effective and innovative solutions in workplace health and safety,” Mr Taylor said.
“I congratulate them for their achievements and thank them for their valuable contributions to the Comcare scheme,” Mr Taylor said.
An independent judging panel will now consider each of the finalists’ entries, with the winners being announced on World Day for Health and Safety at Work on 28 April 2009.
