The Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) today announced the finalists of the 2009 SRCC Safety Awards.
In its ninth year, the safety awards recognise and reward excellence in workplace health and safety, rehabilitation and return to work achieved by employers and individuals within the Comcare scheme.
This year a record number of entries were received from both private and public sector organisations from across the jurisdiction.
Mr Les Taylor, SRCC Chairman, said the entries confirmed that organisations in the Comcare scheme are continuing to meet high standards in developing workplace health and safety solutions.
”The high level of innovative entries received from across Australia demonstrates a real commitment from organisations to improving OHS, rehabilitation and return to work outcomes”, Mr Taylor said.
Winners will be announced at the presentation event at the Great Hall, Parliament House, Canberra on Thursday 24 September 2009.
The finalists in each of the five award categories are:
Sub-category a) An employee who does not have responsibility for OHS as part of their duties
Sub-category b) An outstanding contribution by a person with responsibility for OHS as part of their duties
