Workplace safety awards - Finalists announced

The Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) today announced the finalists in its annual Safety Awards.

These are awards for organisations under the Comcare health and safety and compensation system.

Entries came from private and public sector organisations across the country. The number of entries is up by a third compared to the previous year.

Mr Les Taylor, SRCC Chairman, said the number of entries received demonstrates a continued commitment to ensuring Comcare’s workplaces have the highest safety standards, the fewest workrelated injuries and the most effective rehabilitation of injured employees.

‘These Awards showcase the sophisticated systems and innovative practices organisations are utilising to ensure all employees are safe at work.’

‘We are delighted in the diversity of products and systems demonstrated and the overall high quality entries across the categories.’

Now in their seventh year, these Awards recognise excellence and acknowledge the best positive
initiatives by those who are leading the way in Occupational Health and Safety and Rehabilitation/Return to Work.

Winners will be announced at the presentation event at the Great Hall, Parliament House on Wednesday 24 October 2007.

Finalists in each of the five award categories are:
