Scheme Statistics

Currently, there are around 372,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees (208,000 from premium paying agencies and 164,000 from licensed self-insurers) covered by the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act).

Coverage by the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1991 (OHS Act) extends to approximately 404,000 FTE employees (186,000 from premium paying employers, 164,000 from licensed self-insurers and 54,000 Australian Defence Force personnel).

The following pages provide a range of statistics for employees covered by the SRC Act. The statistics now incorporate data covering 2008-09 and include updates to previously reported data.
