On 4 December 2017, the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (the Commission) granted a self-insurance licence to the Australian National University (ANU) under Part VIII of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act). The licence will commence from 1 July 2018 and expires on 30 June 2026.

Regulatory model document updated - 06 Sep 2017
The Commission’s Licence Compliance and Performance Model document has recently been updated. This version includes the revised and endorsed Prudential and Financial Framework. All supporting elements of the model have now been completed.
The Australian National University has lodged a self-insurance licence application. The Commission was to consider the application at its March 2017 meeting, however consideration of the application has been deferred to the Commission's 30 November 2017 meeting.
The Commission has endorsed protocols in relation to the submission of materials with regard to its consideration of licence applications and extensions and other matters to bring greater openness and transparency to its decision-making processes.
